π¨ Image Conversion Complete Guide
JPG to PNG Conversion
Best for: Adding transparency to photos, preparing images for design work, preserving quality
Step-by-Step Process:
- Upload JPG files: Drag and drop or click to select multiple JPG files
- Preview conversion: See before/after comparisons in real-time
- Batch convert: Process multiple files simultaneously
- Download results: Get individual PNG files or a ZIP archive
π‘ Pro Tips:
- File size increase: PNG files are typically 3-5x larger than JPG due to lossless compression
- Quality preservation: Every pixel is preserved exactlyβno quality loss
- Transparency ready: PNG files support transparency for future editing
- Best practices: Use PNG for graphics, logos, screenshots; keep JPG for photos
PNG to JPG Conversion
Best for: Reducing file sizes, sharing photos, email attachments, web optimization
Quality Control:
π΄ Low Quality (50-60%)
- Smallest file sizes (good for thumbnails)
- Visible compression artifacts
- Best for: Email thumbnails, quick previews
π‘ Medium Quality (70-80%)
- Good balance of size and quality
- Suitable for most web use
- Best for: Social media, websites, blogs
π’ High Quality (85-95%)
- Minimal quality loss
- Larger file sizes
- Best for: Professional photos, printing
β οΈ Important Note: Transparency Loss
JPG format doesn't support transparency. Transparent areas will be filled with a background color (usually white). Consider keeping a PNG backup if you might need transparency later.
WebP Conversion
Best for: Modern web applications, mobile apps, bandwidth optimization
WebP Advantages:
- Superior compression: 25-35% smaller than JPEG, 50% smaller than PNG
- Supports transparency: Like PNG but with better compression
- Animation support: Better than GIF with smaller file sizes
- Quality options: Both lossy and lossless compression modes
π Browser Compatibility
β Full Support
- Chrome 23+
- Firefox 65+
- Edge 18+
- Safari 14+
- Opera 12.1+
β οΈ Limited/No Support
- Internet Explorer (all versions)
- Safari < 14
- Older mobile browsers
Recommendation: Always provide JPG/PNG fallbacks for maximum compatibility
π§ Image Processing Tools
Image Resizer
Resize images while maintaining aspect ratio and quality
Resize Options:
π By Percentage
- Scale proportionally (e.g., 50% = half size)
- Maintains aspect ratio automatically
- Best for: Batch processing, consistent scaling
π By Dimensions
- Set exact width and/or height in pixels
- Choose to maintain or ignore aspect ratio
- Best for: Specific size requirements, thumbnails
π± By Preset
- Common sizes (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Optimized for social media platforms
- Best for: Social media posting, profile pictures
π― Quality Preservation Tips:
- Always resize down: Enlarging images reduces quality significantly
- Use high-quality originals: Start with the largest, highest quality source
- Maintain aspect ratio: Prevents distortion and stretching
- Choose appropriate algorithm: We use advanced bicubic interpolation for best results
Image Compressor
Reduce file sizes while maintaining acceptable visual quality
Compression Strategies:
π― Smart Compression
Analyzes image content and applies optimal compression settings automatically
- Best for: Mixed content, batch processing
- Balances file size and quality intelligently
- Saves 60-80% file size typically
β‘ Maximum Compression
Prioritizes smallest file sizes with acceptable quality trade-offs
- Best for: Web thumbnails, email attachments
- Can achieve 90%+ size reduction
- May show compression artifacts
π Quality Priority
Minimal compression while still reducing file size
- Best for: Professional photos, print materials
- Typically saves 30-50% file size
- Minimal visible quality loss
π Understanding Results:
Our compressor shows before/after file sizes and compression ratios. Use the preview feature to ensure quality meets your needs before downloading.

General Questions
Is PixNmerge really free?
Yes! All tools are 100% free with no hidden costs, no registration required, and no file limits. We support the service through optional, non-intrusive advertising.
Do my files get uploaded to servers?
No! All processing happens locally in your browser using advanced web technologies. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.
What browsers are supported?
We support all modern browsers: Chrome 60+, Firefox 55+, Safari 12+, and Edge 79+. Internet Explorer is not supported.

There are no artificial limits, but performance depends on your device. We recommend files under 50MB each for optimal performance. Very large files may take longer to process.
Can I use PixNmerge on mobile devices?
Yes! Our tools work on smartphones and tablets. Performance may be slower than desktop computers, especially for large files or batch processing.
Technical Questions
What image formats do you support?
Input formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF (static). Output formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP. We're continuously adding support for more formats like AVIF, HEIC, and TIFF.
Do you preserve image metadata (EXIF)?
By default, we remove metadata to reduce file sizes and protect privacy. You can choose to preserve metadata in the advanced settings of each tool.
How does the compression algorithm work?
We use industry-standard compression algorithms: JPEG uses DCT compression, PNG uses DEFLATE, WebP uses VP8/VP9. Our algorithms are optimized for the best balance of size and quality.
Can I convert animated images?
Currently, animated GIFs are converted to static images. Full animation support for GIF to WebP conversion is coming soon!
Do you support color profiles?
Yes! We preserve color profiles by default for accurate color reproduction. You can choose to convert to sRGB for web optimization in the advanced settings.
Privacy & Security
How do you ensure my files are secure?
All processing happens locally in your browser. Files never leave your device, and we have no access to your content. This eliminates most security risks associated with online file processing.
Do you collect any data about my files?
No! We don't see, analyze, or collect any information about your files. We may collect anonymous usage analytics (like which tools are most popular) but never file content or metadata.
What happens to files after I close the browser?
All files and processed results are automatically cleared from browser memory when you close the tab or navigate away. Nothing persists on your device unless you explicitly download it.
Is it safe to process sensitive documents?
Yes! Since processing is entirely local, sensitive files never leave your device. However, we still recommend following your organization's security policies for handling confidential material.
