Lossy compression (used by JPG and WebP at lower quality settings) reduces file size by permanently discarding some image data. The result looks very similar to the original but is not byte-for-byte identical. Lossless compression (used by PNG and high-quality WebP) reduces file size without discarding any data — the decompressed image is identical to the original. For web images where small file size matters, lossy is usually the right choice. For images you will edit further, use lossless.
The sender opens the Send File tool and selects files, which generates a 6-digit code. The receiver opens the same tool on another device, enters the code, and the transfer begins. Files travel directly between the two devices over an encrypted WebRTC connection — nothing is routed through or stored on our servers.
